You recently graduated from college. There are Singaporeans who are firm about their decisions and aspirations after graduation; they know where to go and how to do it. However, there are some Singaporeans who are lost; they do not know where to head or how to navigate. If you belong to the latter, it is important that you get through this stage to realize your true potential.
If you are lost, you are probably experiencing Quarter Life Crisis (QLC). The good news is that students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) developed QLC Survival Guide. The Guide is a twenty four page booklet which is made to provide young graduates with the information they need to get by. Here are some contents that you should look forward in the Survival Guide:
- How to pay income tax: Students have outlined the guidelines that you can consider when you pay your income tax. If you landed a job, it is necessary that you pay your income tax. You should not worry because the booklet will see you through.
- How to buy insurance: When you have the job, you should consider your security. Do not think of tangible things like smartphones, laptops, tablets and many more. You have to make sure that your investment is secured. You have to buy insurance. The booklet will teach you how to buy insurance.
- How much will it cost you to buy a car: At some point in your life when you are settled and secured, you will think of buying a car. The booklet will give you information on car buying. For instance, you will know how what car to consider and how much it will cost you.
- How much should you spend on your wedding: You will surely get married and have your own family in the future. There is no reason that you should rush but if you think that it is the right time, you can refer to the survival guide. The booklet will give you an idea of how much you should spend on your wedding.
The project of the NTU students are sponsored by DBS Bank, National Youth Council and the Health Promotion Board. The Guide booklet costs $23,000. To date, there are five hundred copies printed and distributed. Students proposes to distribute the booklet in cafés, restaurants and food centres in the next few weeks.
The students did their surveys and research in the field of QLC. QLC are often ignored because there are people who think that it is significant. That is where they are wrong. Surviving QLC will determine your success.
