Why You Should Consider Working Remotely

Posted on April 11, 2017 by Editor Posted in Work and Employment .

From answering emails while enjoying the hammock to avoiding the stress of commuting, you’ve heard all the common advantages of working remotely. Yet, there are still some things that could surprise you about what it’s like to not have to work in an office every day. Here, we listed down other amazing reasons why you should consider working remotely, be it in the comforts of your home or in your favourite café.

  1. You Workspace Can be of Any Kind

If you’re planning to work remotely, there’s a good chance that you’ll be working from home. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to fill a portion of your living room with a huge monitor, a clunky desk and an ugly swivel chair. I’ve heard of one worker who used her breakfast bar in her kitchen as a standing desk, and another who converted an area a bedroom closet into a secret office so should could easily shut her work away once the day is over.

  1. You Get to Save a Good Amount of Money

It’s a given that you’ll see an immediate improvement in your bank account when you no longer have to bear the costs of commuting, but it isn’t the only area where you get to save. Since you’ll be working from home, you no longer need to force yourself into a pair of polished shoes and a suit. You’ll also be able to cut down your food costs since you can now easily whip up your own meals right from your kitchen.

  1. You Create Your Work Schedule

These days, a lot of work can already be done at home and on a flexible schedule. If you work as a content creator or a web developer, for instance, you can already do your writing or coding whenever you want as long as you meet your deadlines. If you do need to work on specific hours, you’ll still have some break time – a time that you can use however you like, be it taking a power nap or playing a few tunes on your guitar.

  1. You Become More Independent

Since you don’t have any colleagues working with you, you’ll likely find yourself learning new skills for your work (e.g. basic coding, photo editing). Of course, you can still choose to get help from other people, but more often than not, you’ll be using a Google search or checking out the company’s website to look for the answer yourself.

  1. You Can Have Effective and Enjoyable Meetings

We bet you don’t know anyone who enjoys attending meetings. When you work remotely, however, you get to choose your meal and be much more effective. Thanks to technology, you can now set a 15-minute meeting with 10 people through video call. You can also use the chat function to share documents or say important comments without interrupting anyone.

Working remotely offers numerous advantages, from being able to work while still in your PJs to setting your own work schedule. So do consider this option as you start finding a new job.

How Travelling Becomes Beneficial for Your Career

Posted on April 6, 2017 by Editor Posted in Work and Employment .

Aside from having an opportunity to see different sights, travelling also offers several benefits for your future career. Not only does it require you to interact with different people and push you out of your comfort zone, it also allows you to observe and immerse in diverse cultures. Yet, it doesn’t just end there. Here, we listed down some of the advantages that travelling brings into your career.

  1. Allows You to Gain Inspiration

Whether you’re working in the field of art, business, science or technology, travelling gives you an opportunity to observe how other cultures execute their business in their respective field. Through this, you’ll be able to come up with new ways and ideas on how you’ll approach your previous business problems.

  1. Gives You Time to Refresh and Reset

Taking a break from your daily routine is one of the best ways to refresh your mind. Even if your travels involve some physical activities, your brain will still be able to retune and relax itself. Your spirit and mind will be reinvigorated, and that’ll be evident as you start working again after your trip.

  1. Encourages You to View Things in a Different Perspective

Travelling helps in lifting daily stresses, as it makes you realize that the issues you’re currently facing are rather irrelevant and small. When you’re miles away from home, you get to think about why you’re so stressed out with such trivial matters. It’ll also remind you of what your priorities really are and keep you focused on what really matters the most.

  1. Teaches New Values

Aside from the cute souvenirs, one of the best things you get to take home with you is the new values that you learned. Some cultures will teach you the value of warmth through immersing in a lifestyle where conversing with strangers is the norm. You’re encouraged to interact with the people around you instead of being busy with your gadgets, and as you return home, you’ll be surprised as to how this change in values helps you become closer with your co-workers and peers.

  1. Pushes You to Connect With New People

Travelling offers the same experience as when you first moved into your freshman dorm – nobody had any friends, so almost everyone had to be friendly with one another. Through travelling, you’re able to establish important connections (and even relationships) with strangers, thus improving your networking skills.

Because of financial restrictions, busy schedules and work pressures, some people tend to drop the idea of travelling. But if you get these professional benefits from going on an adventure, then there’s no need to be guilty about it. Remember, travelling is the one thing you’ll buy that can actually make you richer.
