Living is so much fun knowing that we have broader career options. We do not need to be stuck to traditional careers like being a teacher, police, nurse, lawyer, engineer or doctor. Today, we can be whatever we want to be – we can be a historian, travel blogger, food expert and party planners. We will find that those with odd jobs are happier.
If in this case we choose to be a party or event planner, there are many things that we need to learn. We have to remember that the beginning is always the hardest when establishing our own enterprise but everything will be worth it if we thrive not just survive in the business. It is a blessing if our passion is our livelihood.
Here are some tips from experts for novice planners:
- Always deliver: We entice customers because we promise to deliver their dream event. Our endless aim should be to surprise our clients instead of disappointing them. To gather strong client base, we have to build our reputation. If we think we cannot do it or we are still not ready, we have to be honest and not be pushy about it. If the client wants us, it means that they trust that we can deliver and we should – beyond any circumstance, break our promise.
- Creativity is the key: As much as possible we want to give the sun and the moon to our clients to please them but we know that it is not possible. What’s possible is to think of something that can help our clients achieve their visions. Planning is more than booking a venue or decorating the place. As party planners, we also need to learn the art of editing and creative substitution. Creativity is really the key.
- We can’t win them all: We have to know and accept that we cannot please everyone. We want to win them all but it is not possible. If we accept this, we will be better and wiser in our next decisions. There will come a time that things will that is why we should not give up and make more alternative plans.
Regardless of what career we choose, it is important that we find happiness. If we are stuck with our last choice, our future will surely be gloomy. It is not too late to shift careers. If we want to be a planner, let us not listen to what other people will say. As long as we are happy, we will surely thrive.
